Hybrid heat pipes / water coolers

The idea is not new, but a couple of hybrid coolers I found more discredit the idea than support it.

The really working hybrid cooler must easily beat an average pure water one, of cause if built with the same principles in mind - as big as it makes sense cooling surface and as turbulent as possible water flow.

Water cooled heat pipes would be more effective for CPU and GPU, but no one wants to produce them - they will be much more expensive than traditional with quite a narrow market.
