Marvell/AMD "SATA 6G"

SATA 6G might become a big speed-up in storage technology. But if the current jazz around the latest Marvell and AMD "SATA 6G achiverments" would not stop, this will become a huge disappointment.

If the SATA 6G would have been introduced as HDD improverment, the Marvell/AMD solutions would be quite desent, but the demand for new speed came from SSDs - devices that are able to clog down any SATA II interface. And what we got from both these vendors? The devices with maximum bus speed of 400MB/s, not able to support more than 200GB/s with SATA II drives!

And both vendors propose even "RAID" solutions! In theory (and honest practice) a two-drive SATA 6G RAID 0 should be able to produce no less than 1GB/s throughput. If with AMD one is limited to (not so bad, but inadequate) 700GB/s, Marvell solution will allow you same 400GB/s as with the single drive!

If that is not a swindle, then give me the proper name!
